In 1959, Maurice, my husband, launched the insane gamble of creating a campsite in the wilderness of the Gorges du Verdon. People thought he was crazy, but in fact he was a visionary. The first year, there was only one sanitary unit. As the years went by and the number of visitors grew, three more were built, as well as a reception, a grocery store and a restaurant. Campers have put their trust in us and, more than 50 years later, still come to spend their vacations with their children and grandchildren in our magnificent region.

Working at the Chasteuil Verdon Provence campsite today, in the current economic climate, is a privilege. Indeed, not everyone is given the opportunity to work in a job you love, in a small family-run business where the key word is “trust”, which is acquired over time and nurtured on a daily basis.

Being a seasonal employee at Camping Chasteuil Verdon Provence is an extraordinary experience. I’ve met some great people with values like cohesion, sharing, friendship, honesty and so on. I didn’t work with colleagues, but with a family. As for the environment, there’s nothing more pleasant than living in the warmth of the sun, the greenness of the vegetation and the freshness of the Verdon. Working at the reception desk is all fun and games, with a touch of adventure thrown in for good measure.
Finally, my 2022 season is and will remain a memorable one.

Based right at our campground, Raoul Rafting invites you to explore the Gorges du Verdon through whitewater activities suitable for all, such as rafting and water hiking. The Verdon is perfect for a first-time experience, with a family rafting route suitable for ages 6 and up. Thrill-seekers will love the water hike through the Couloir Samson. As a nature guide, Raoul also organizes vulture-watching excursions to see Europe’s largest birds!
